REDRUM MUSIC: Crazy
Updated: Mar 10, 2019
Singer-songwriter from South East London, Redrum, is about to release her debut studio single, ‘Crazy’. The alternative R&B track is a throwback to the days of Aaliyah and Jojo, yet also something that’s stands out amongst charts saturated with synth-pop.
Influenced by pain, love and day to day life, Redrum has poured her heart out into ‘Crazy’, detailing heartbreak, loneliness and confusion within well-constructed, personal lyrics. The combination of a steady beat, angelic harmonies and an incredibly catchy chorus creates a song that gains access to one’s mentality; lingering in your headspace for hours. Redrum revealed that she’s particularly influenced by The Skints, Lilly Allen and Amy Winehouse and these can all be heard in this upcoming release.
'Crazy' begins with a hard-hitting, electronic beat that ultimately creates a contrast with the delicate, soulful vocals that come in after the introduction. The verse melody is a little creepy, emitting an unnerving atmosphere similar to that of anxiety; which is exactly what the lyrics depict. This builds up to the insanely memorable chorus, causing the song to become more mournful; a cry to be close to someone who is no longer there. I wouldn't be surprised if you end up singing this tune for the rest of the week.
